Strategic Formulation Framework Beyond 2006

1. PROSEA's Vision and Mission Beyond 2006

PROSEA's vision: "strives to become a leading organization in promoting the sustainable use of plant resources of the South-East Asia region for the better livelihood of the regional communities".

Accordingly, PROSEA's missions are generated as to address its own strengths and opportunities available at the global level as follows.

To disseminate the existing wealth of information on the plant resources of South-East Asia to various beneficiaries throughout the world through various activities at international, regional, and national levels, and;
To develop facilitation programmes for international research activities in the region on the plant resources of South-East Asia

1.	To disseminate the existing wealth of information on the plant resources of South-East Asia to various beneficiaries throughout the world through various activities at international, regional, and national levels	1.1.	PROSEA Data Bank Is In existence, regularly updated; readily accessible throughInternet, and easily available to the global communities, from which various products and services could be generated.	1.1.	PROSEA Data Bank is running on a server based, accessible through internet, regularly updated and recorded, and available on CD when necessary.	Facilities for database development are adequate; internet infrastructure is supportive
		1.2.	Provision of identification tools of plant resources, the guidelines to the management of plant resources, manuals for sustalnable use of plant resources in Improving local livelihood;	1.2.	PROSEA Handbooks (new titles & revised editions), PROSEA Identification Kits, PROSEA Management Guidelines, PROSEA Utilization Manuals;	Cooperation with a competent publisher could be established, and collaboration with scientists and extension workers could be strengthened.
		1.3.	PROSEA supports the promotion of plant resources based sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood, and of carbon trade through the clean development mechanism;	1.3.	Program for promoting plant resources based sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood at regional level, and clean development mechanism at regional level;	The governments in the regions support the global agenda, which is also confirmed by the global communities.
		1.4.	PROSEA encourages thelocal people for diversifying plant based commodities under sustainable use principles.	1.4. The governments in the regions support the global agenda, which encourages the improvement of agro-biodiversity.
2.	To develop facilitation programmes for international research activities in the region on the plant resources of South-East Asia	2.1.	Assessment on the needs for further developed researches on plant resources in the region;	2.1.	Results of the scientific gap analysis on plant resources in the region;	PROSEA could improve her capacities in terms of human resources and facilities; the capacities of PROSEA's partners in the region are also enhanced.

Collaborative research programmes with international scientific communities on plant resources in the region are sustainably underway.	There are intrernational scientists capable of generating funding for researches in the region.
